Today was the last day Fritz was allowed to be on campus. He had been coming to work with me everyday for the past two years (really all of his life). He is no longer allowed to be on campus because the Cabinet amended a policy it passed over the summer which prohibited pets from being in public spaces or staff offices. The amendment now extends that to include faculty offices. This policy was not discussed with the community and I am not sure how many students and faculty even know that dogs are no longer allowed. Yes, it marks a sad day for a campus that not long ago celebrated faculty and staff members and their pets.
